Happy 2018, y’all! What does everyone have going on this week?! Mine still looks the same as last week and the week before (gosh – I’m so interesting!). As I mentioned in this post – it’s currently bar prep season until March 1st, meaning I am pretty much on lockdown study mode. It’s definitely an interesting experience spending 10-12 hours at a desk every single day, but thankfully it’s temporary! (Also shoutout to whoever created this bike desk that is so helpful in keeping me semi-sane and healthy!)

Earlier this fall, knowing that this intensive time would be coming up quickly, I really wanted to finish my office area as much as possible before I wouldn’t have the time to in January. Organized, bright, and airy spaces not only help my focus, but they definitely boost my mood, so I’m happy that overall that’s how this space feels. At this point, there are still a few small changes I would like to make, but they will just have to be things to look forward to in March 🙂

I hope you all are having a wonderful start to the new year! Although my response time is definitely slower right now, I still love to read your comments and kind messages 🙂 Thank you all for your patience and continued support of this blog – starting this new year with all of you is one of the sweetest gifts!

It’s been an extra hot minute since I last shared an Instagram roundup post! In attempting to get things a bit more organized on the site, I am going to try, from now on, to theme these as much as possible – hence today’s “home” roundup. I focused primarily on the insta’s that were most asked about and didn’t include every home decor image I’ve shared in the last few months, so if you have any questions about something I missed – feel free to comment below or shoot me an email! Also – for any item that did not have an original link available, I searched for and included the closest alternative/duplicate I could find 🙂

The top three most asked about items are the: (1) Boss Babe Tray; (2) Tufted Desk Chair; and (3) Diamond Pen Set. I found the Boss Babe tray randomly and just love it for the obvious reasons (hehe it pairs really well with the “Girls Just Wanna Be CEO” trinket dish!) but also for its usefulness! It is such a nice in-between size, so it’s perfect for a number of different purposes. The second most asked about, my desk chair, is ideal for anyone who has to spend a lot of time on a computer. Y’all, I searched high and low for this little number, and after almost a year of many long & continuous hours of use, I am still so so pleased with it. Lastly and most hilariously, the Diamond Pen Set is the third most asked about item from my Instagram. These pens are super fun and surprisingly heavy, so they feel a lot more substantial than I expected – plus they do actually write very well. I will definitely be ordering a few more to include in gifts for some of my fellow grad students//office gal pals! Whatever it takes to get through the work week with a smile, ya know?! 🙂

Remove Wax from Diptyque Candles in 5 Minutes

Here at our house, we love all things vanilla, and that goes for anything from cake to candles. Currently, the Vanille Diptyque candle is my absolute favorite. All of the home scents by Diptyque are so good and not at all overwhelming or sickly sweet (winning).

Likewise, the candle jars they come in are simple and elegant. This is what makes these jars the perfect glass containers for storing almost anything – including cotton swabs, makeup brushes, even paperclips and/or pens.

So, when they’re done burning, how do we clean them? Searching online will yield a number of different options, however not all of those work for the diptyque candles -specifically due to the nature of the glass.

Here’s how to clean them quickly and easily, without harming the glass or the sticker in 3 simple steps:

Step 1: First, take a spoon and dip it into the candle between the wax and the side of the glass. Gently press and pull pieces of the wax out. Continue until you have removed the majority of the wax. (Note: Do not do this immediately after burning the candle as the glass will be hot and not safe to touch)

Step 2: Now that the majority of the wax has been removed, there may still be smaller pieces left stuck to the glass. Using hot water taken from the sink, fill the jar. Let it soak the glass for a couple minutes. (Note: DO NOT use boiling water. While this may work for other candles, it is too hot for the type of glass used for Diptyque candles and can result in the glass cracking.)

Step 3: Dump out the water and using a clean paper towel, wipe out the remaining softened wax.

Bonus: Decide what you will put in your freshly cleaned Diptyque jar!

At first, I thought I would use this one for paper clips. Then after playing around with it, I decided to use it in our master bath for a much prettier way to store our cotton swabs.
