DIY Gold Unicorn Memo Holder

Happy Wednesday, y’all! We are halfway through the week, so officially almost to the weekend (Woo!) Today’s DIY is SO fun for many different reasons – it can be used for holding pictures, encouraging notes, a to-do list, or even as someone’s placeholder in a themed party, the options you have out of this simple 3-step DIY are endless 🙂

To get started you’ll need:

Supplies

Rust-Oleum Gold Spray Paint

Hot Glue Gun & Glue

Gold Paperclips

Unicorns

Step 1: Get out your paperclips and plug in your hot glue gun! For this part, you can choose to either straighten out one side of the paperclip or leave as it is depending on where on the unicorn you want your clip to be. Once you’ve decided, glue it into place. Repeat this step with as many as desired.

Step 2: In a well-ventilated location (preferably outside if possible) begin spray painting your unicorn memo holders. Lightly spray the first layer, letting it set for about 10 minutes or so before continuing. Repeat until desired coverage is reached – after which wait about 40 minutes before handling.

Step 3: Decide what you will use your new gold note/memo/photo/place holders for! I’ve included some ideas below:

Remove Wax from Diptyque Candles in 5 Minutes

Here at our house, we love all things vanilla, and that goes for anything from cake to candles. Currently, the Vanille Diptyque candle is my absolute favorite. All of the home scents by Diptyque are so good and not at all overwhelming or sickly sweet (winning).

Likewise, the candle jars they come in are simple and elegant. This is what makes these jars the perfect glass containers for storing almost anything – including cotton swabs, makeup brushes, even paperclips and/or pens.

So, when they’re done burning, how do we clean them? Searching online will yield a number of different options, however not all of those work for the diptyque candles -specifically due to the nature of the glass.

Here’s how to clean them quickly and easily, without harming the glass or the sticker in 3 simple steps:

Step 1: First, take a spoon and dip it into the candle between the wax and the side of the glass. Gently press and pull pieces of the wax out. Continue until you have removed the majority of the wax. (Note: Do not do this immediately after burning the candle as the glass will be hot and not safe to touch)

Step 2: Now that the majority of the wax has been removed, there may still be smaller pieces left stuck to the glass. Using hot water taken from the sink, fill the jar. Let it soak the glass for a couple minutes. (Note: DO NOT use boiling water. While this may work for other candles, it is too hot for the type of glass used for Diptyque candles and can result in the glass cracking.)

Step 3: Dump out the water and using a clean paper towel, wipe out the remaining softened wax.

Bonus: Decide what you will put in your freshly cleaned Diptyque jar!

At first, I thought I would use this one for paper clips. Then after playing around with it, I decided to use it in our master bath for a much prettier way to store our cotton swabs.

This first dress I am obsessed with! Off-the-shoulder is a huge trend right now and these colors are gorgeous on any and every skin tone.

First, this flowy Lush tunic is perfect for even the most humid of summer days – comfortable, breezy, and flattering – I’m in love.
Another major trend this season is the cold shoulder look! This featured Lush Cold Shoulder Top (less than $22!) is one I love. It shows enough skin to enjoy the summery season, yet is totally appropriate for a variety of settings and events.
Last but not least, Satin yes please – gimme all of it! Sometimes it’s way too hot in the evening for a normal cardigan but you just want something on your arms, and this Hinge Satin Kimono Jacket is perfect for exactly that (seriously counting down the seconds till mine arrives).
